Each Day Has Enough Trouble Of Its Own ~Pastor Bernie Chung
Each of us should know our Creator, who is our God, and receive the redemptive grace God has prepared for us. We should be reconciled to God, and let him lead us while we still have the breath of life, and to live one day at a time. Chapter 4 of James reminds us that we are like a mist that disappears after a while. The first half of v.14 states the obvious reason: “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life?” (James 4:14a (NIV))
Matthew 6:33 also says: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” We the children of God must allow God to reign in our hearts first and foremost. We should seek God through prayers as our first priority in life. Seek also means actively look or to get close to our eternal God. To seek God we must know that God is the king of the heavenly kingdom, and let his righteousness and justice manifest in our daily life. As long as we put God’s will first, He will look after us. God will remember our needs, and His thoughtfulness and generosity will astound us.
We should take our spiritual journey one step at a time. What a pity if we’ve overlooked or failed to fully appreciate God’s abundant love along the way? It is also a tragedy if we squander our life letting everyday pass us by without knowing life’s purpose. Conversely, there are many people who are anxious about nothing. Their anxiety may be originated from unfounded worries resulted from over thinking. Depressions can set in that can affect both their mind and body and cause suffering. We must realize that following God’s will should not be a burden if we do what God has assigned to us properly. We should seize the moment and serve our Lord in a down-to-earth fashion. Try to eat well when we eat, sleep well when we sleep, study well when we read, exercise well when we exercise, work well when we work, and rest well when we have leisure. The priority of today must be set firmly in place: To seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness first, and do not let the problems and needs of tomorrow become the worries of today. What to eat, what to drink, and what to wear are trivial questions indeed!
Matthew 6:34 says, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
The question we need to ask ourselves is: How should I seek the kingdom of God and the righteousness of God in my life? When faced with difficulties and needs, are we brave enough to rely on our faith? Are we willing to seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness and make it a top priority in life? Lord, make our answer a resounding: YES! Change our lives LORD. Amen!
