牧者心聲 Pastor's Message
01/17/2010 Fog
Hebrews 4:12 12
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper
than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul
and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes
of the heart.
Wow. On my drive in to church last Sunday, there sure was
a lot of fog! Now, I've been on the Bay Bridge before when almost
the entire span was engulfed in thick white cloud. But never have I
seen it to the level where most of my entire drive is fog. From the
driveway of my home, to almost the entire length of the Caldecott
Tunnel ― even parts of Oakland ― were enveloped under a
blanket of fog. That was a first for me.
But even though our vision is impaired, our movement is
not hampered. We simply have to drive with caution. Though I
wonder, how many people might be afraid of driving into thick fog?
As we all know it is just water vapor. On the other hand, I ponder
how many (knowing that fog is simply water vapor) have simply
driven speedily and recklessly through fog, because they know
layout of the road? There might be a car or an accident ahead that
they are unable to avoid.
In any and all types of situations, there is someone we can
trust in. Someone who is all powerful. He is also invisible (most of
the time), especially in the low traveling clouds. Yet not only can
he penetrate fog, he can penetrate the body. Even more, he can
divide those things that cannot be physically experienced. These
are our thoughts and even the attitudes of our heart!
The word of God is not a force to be reckoned with. The
Holy Spirit is not fathomable and does not obey the laws of physics.
So when we trust in Christ, all things are possible. I also put my
trust in the Lord. So last Sunday, as I drove, I proceeded with
caution. In addition, I put my trust in Him and gave an extra
prayer to Jesus to keep me safe as I drove.
