牧者心聲 Pastor's Message
10/04/2009
Life
Life is fleeting,
merely a glance.
A chirp, a whiff,
slipped from your grasp.
Life. Life Life. Life can be +80 years, or it can be less than twelve
months. We cannot determine the length to any degree. It is not under
our control. The preservation of life is even the president's responsibility.
Just today (10/1) the president signed a federal law disallowing all
texting while driving. The reason, because almost 6,000 deaths and a
half-million injuries in the US alone are due to distracted drivers. This is
after reading an article about a tow truck driver who drove his flat-bed
truck (also carrying a damaged vehicle, the irony!) into a swimming pool
after first crashing into another vehicle. He was distracted because he
was texting on one of his phones... while talking on the other phone. Why
wasn’t driving a cinch for him?
And the world is still reeling on the wake of two earthquakes.
One earthquake leveled an entire city in Indonesia, and another created
a tsunami which hit the Samoa and American Samoa islands. This left
ships on houses, utter devastation and loss of life.
Or the news of a nuclear plant in Iran just tickles us funny,
doesn’t it? Do we know what the purpose of that new plant really is?
Does it have any affect on my health and my life?
Does it? Well, I want you to shift gears for a moment, away from
all these current events and instead: Focus on the blessings God has
given you. Consider the salvation that Christ has given you. Reflect on the
fellowship you have with the Holy Spirit. While you are doing this, I
would like to suggest that you, the reader, do three things that have
nothing to do with you, but everything to do w/ someone else:
1. Pray for someone you know who isn't a Christian. Be it is a family
member or a co-worker or a classmate.
2. Pray for someone you know who is a Christian. Perhaps he/she is
doing well, or not so well. Maybe even give the friend a call (or send a text).
3. Pray for someone you don't know. Yes, it sounds funny. But, as
intercessors, we can pray for anyone. How about a random person
outside? Or someone across the globe?
Why don't you pray for a life right now?
Amen
