1 Corinthians 1.9: God is faithful, through whom you were
called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
While at a wedding banquet last Sunday, I happened to sit
next to a young family. As I chatted with the parents, we got to
talking about our respective churches and some of the similarities
and differences between them. The wife also brought up how she
was disappointed recently as a lay-leader. (Which reminds me, do
we have lay-leaders at this church, or is this a new concept?) Her
responsibility as a lay-leader is to help lead a fellowship. In her
case, for the youth at her church. But after all the planning she did
to set-up an activity for the youth, only one single youth came to
the activity. All of the other kids went off to do something “more
fun.” This forced her to think of what she might have done wrong,
but also had her question what it is that is a priority for the youth.
Is it to go to whatever activity is more fun? What is the purpose of
the youth fellowship?
Yet, we can also turn this question onto ourselves. How
about you? What are your priorities? What are your commitments?
Where is your faith put in your daily schedule of activities? Jesus
calls us to follow him and to pray. And he also calls us to
fellowship with one another (Acts 2.42-47). This is an important
aspect of church. But, if you are not a leader or not showing up to
church events, don't think that you are disappointing me or your
brothers and sisters at church and at fellowship.
The main question to ask is: Am I fellowship with God?
If you are, good for you! But if not, what's stopping you?
Join with us in fellowship with Christ today!
