牧者心聲 Pastor's Message
06/07/2009
This week I got to visit a good friend of mine from when I
was a missionary in Brazil. It was such a blessing to see how God
was using him and his family to bring the good news of Jesus
around the world. While I was visiting his house, something funny
happened. His little son, Joshua, was playing with his new toy
truck. He started pushing the truck around, and then he sat on the
truck (it was a big toy truck). And then Joshua tried to get inside
the cab of the truck to drive it. He managed to stick his foot inside
the cab, but that was all that fit. About that time he threw a hissyfit
because he wanted with all his might to fit inside that truck and
drive it. The only problem was he was way too big to fit inside a toy
truck. It reminded me of how we as Christians can be sometimes.
We sometimes want to “fit” into things we should have grown out
of long ago in our Christian walk. These things may seem fun or
exciting, but I imagine when God looks at us trying to fit into these
things, it might look something like Joshua trying to fit into that
toy car. Paul puts it this way: “When I was a child, I talked like a
child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became
a man, I put childish ways behind me.” (1 Corinthians 13:11) As we
continue in our walk with Christ, I encourage us to put aside
childish things, and strive to be the men and women of God that
Christ has called us to be!
Be blessed this week as we walk with God!
