牧者心聲 Pastor's Message
03/29/2009
I remember a couple of years ago I really wanted to experience Easter more closely. I was fed up with Easter being about the Easter bunny and chocolate eggs and even now taking photos with the Easter bunny in the mall! I wanted to know the real reason behind Easter. So, on the night of Good Friday, I decided to walk a long path around the seminary campus and stop at certain points and just remember what Christ did for me. It turned out to be one of the best experiences in my Christian walk!
As I walked I remembered the 11 disciples following Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, and what they must have been thinking. I remembered the prayer Jesus prayed as He knelt and sweated blood. I remember the disciples falling asleep as Jesus asked them to pray. I remember the kiss that would betray the Son of Man and send Him to the cross. I remembered the fierceness of Jesus as He handed Himself over to the guards to become the sacrificial Lamb in place of our sins. I can go on and on, but that night was special to me. I felt closer to Jesus that night.
This Easter I encourage all of us to remember Jesus and what He has done for us. Remember His death on the cross. Remember His love for us while we were still yet sinners. Remember His resurrection and how He defeated death for all of us who call on His Name. Dig into the Scriptures. Dig into prayer. Dig into time alone with Christ and know Him more and more! Be blessed SFCBC as we celebrate Resurrection Day together! In Christ, our Risen Lord!
In Christ,
Brother John
